Reunion Time!

A few weekends ago we headed up to Cook Children's once more.  This time though, it was for a great celebration.  The NICU Reunion was being held on the front lawn Sunday afternoon and we all headed up there to say hello to the staff that cared for Abby.  Pop (her granddad Joe), Lolli (her grandmother Jane) and Grammy (grandmother Sherry) joined the three of us to show off our little girl.  They had live music and a few booths for the older kiddos but we mostly gravitated to the shade.  We have mentioned it before, but it is great seeing the staff (and their families) who took such good care of Abby.  I'm sure they find a great reward in seeing those who've they cared for as well.  We were so glad to get to say hello to Dr. N and Alex as well as meet their families. Here's a few photos of the day...

For a quick break from the heat we headed up to the new NICU wing and checked out the portrait of Abby & Jody on the wall.  Paige Walker of Paige Walker Photography took the photo back when Abby was two months old and the day before her heart surgery.  This was one of several great shots from that day and we appreciate her willingness to let Cook's use it near the entry of the new unit.  What a reminder of God's grace! His grace is sufficient!

Also, definitely check out a few more of our family portraits she recently took here at her blog  - Family Portraits .

In addition to saying hello to old friends we finally were able to deliver the many donations we received for Abby's birthday to the right person.  After a few attempts at getting them up there, we decided it was best to hand deliver them to the director of the NICU.  We met up with her and loaded them up on a cart for her to get to the right place.  So again, thanks to all who donated items.  The families that find themselves in the NICU will be touched by your generosity.  If you'd like to know more about the NICU at Cook Children's check out their webpage here - Cook Children's NICU

Your generous donations filled the back of our SUV, Thanks so much!
That's all for now.  We'll update the blog soon and tell you all how Abby's first flight went next time.
